First year design students at the Royal College of Art built these designs as a part of the Euro K-Car project. The concepts were designed to be light and compact. Many concepts have bright lights all over the body, and in some cases, strange body shape and design. The concepts are far away from being great, but then lets hope by the time these students complete their courses, we’ll get to see better designs.

The A360 Concept from designer Huynh Ngoc Lan looks like a crossbreed between a UFO and some stealth fighter jet. Not that the concept is bad, it is just sort of weird. The triangular body has a panoramic glass roof, then there is the camera system on the exteriors that works to provide the driver with additional feedback. The car moves on three spheres, not wheels, which actually makes some sense considering that it is capable of moving in any direction on the ground.

In appearance the MinuteMan Concept seems too overstated and loud to actually reckon with. However, we share a great appetite for anything that appears to be roadable, and with this conceptual vehicle delivering the ultimate punch to push the limits beyond the defined boundaries, there wasn’t a way we were missing this. Designed keeping the traffic scenario in Boston in mind, the designer has worked the MinuteMan into a car that can be changed from a Open configuration to a closed position, in well under a minute – a possibility that gave the vehicle its name.

You don’t stand gawking at a taxi, unless it’s an Enzo, but the Mazda Taxi concept could make you stare every time you see it. The concept, developed as a taxi, keeps the specific requirements of the vehicle in mind. The first thing that comes out is, that the ways of approach to a taxi are different for the commuters and the driver; while the driver enters and leaves the vehicle from the street side, the commuters do that from the curb side. This allows the passengers’ luggage to be kept towards the street side, rather than putting it in the trunk. The approach makes for quick and easy ingress and egress for the passengers.
